It has been a season to forget for Burnley, with relegation from the Premier League long since confirmed. But even in the darkest of campaigns, a few bright sparks can still shine through. One such player is Jaidon Anthony, who continues to light up Turf Moor with his performances.

On a day when the Clarets were expected to be mere spectators in Aston Villa's push for European glory, Anthony had other ideas. Coming off the back of Villa's midweek Europa League exploits, Unai Emery's side looked sluggish from the start—and Burnley made them pay.

Just nine minutes in, some crisp build-up play carved open the Villa defense. Lesley Ugochukwu let fly with a powerful shot that Emiliano Martínez could only parry, and Anthony was there, lurking like a predator, to slot home from close range. It was a clinical finish that gave Burnley a surprise lead and sent a jolt through the stadium.

That goal took Anthony's tally to eight for the season—a commendable return for a 26-year-old forward in a struggling side. For Villa, the goal served as a warning: their bid for a top-five finish is far from secure.

As Burnley prepare for life back in the Championship, the question on everyone's lips is whether Anthony will follow them down or secure a move to stay in the top flight. Based on this season's form, he's certainly earned the right to test himself at a higher level.
