Real Madrid's famed youth academy, La Fabrica, continues to produce top-tier talent, and the latest gem catching Europe's attention is 19-year-old defender Victor Valdepenas. The versatile youngster, capable of playing both center-back and left-back, has already made his first-team debut this season under former manager Xabi Alonso.
However, as the summer transfer window approaches, Valdepenas faces an uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabeu. Several top European clubs are circling, with Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly stepping up their pursuit. According to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, the German club is "desperate" to secure the teenager's signature.
Valdepenas won't come cheap or easy. The 19-year-old has been a mainstay for Real Madrid Castilla this season, and his impressive performances have attracted interest from a who's who of European football. Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, and AC Milan are all reportedly monitoring the situation, setting the stage for a potential bidding war.
Valdepenas joined Real Madrid in 2018 from Rayo Vallecano's youth system and has quickly risen through the ranks. He's amassed 45 appearances for Castilla and made his senior debut in December against Deportivo Alaves. Following that milestone, Real Madrid acted swiftly, securing his future with a new contract that runs until 2029, complete with a €50 million release clause.
Despite the long-term deal, a summer move can't be ruled out. Real Madrid has a well-established history of allowing promising youngsters to leave, often retaining some control through buyback clauses and sell-on percentages. For clubs like Frankfurt, landing a player of Valdepenas' caliber would be a major statement of intent as they look to strengthen their defensive options for the coming season.
