ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — An evening centered on resilience and healing brought the community together as Villa of Hope hosted its “Portraits of Hope” celebration Friday.
The event featured a special appearance from Buffalo Bills running back Ray Davis, who shared his personal journey and message about mental health and perseverance.
Attendees also heard from a Villa of Hope client, Nancy, who spoke about how the organization has impacted her life and supported her through challenges.
Davis reflected on his own path, including experiencing homelessness and spending eight years in foster care before finding stability through football.
“I had to go through a lot of different stages of life… share what I got to say,” Davis told the crowd.
Organizers say stories like Davis’ and Nancy’s highlight the importance of mental health support and community-based resources.
The night, emceed by Adam Chodak, also included a mocktail hour, silent auction, and a VIP reception and dinner.
Villa of Hope provides services focused on mental health, education and support for youth and families across the Rochester area.
