The Buffalo Bills have officially entered 2026 NFL Draft review week, and as usual, they're giving fans an all-access pass to the action. The team released their draft-weekend video, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the war room decisions that shaped their latest class. But that's not all—Ty Dunne of Go Long TD dropped another exclusive interview with Bills President of Football Operations and General Manager Brandon Beane, just hours before the team's "Embedded" episode went live on YouTube.
I dove into both pieces of content to uncover fresh insights about Buffalo's offseason moves, with a spotlight on the draft. Here's what stood out.
One of the biggest revelations? Beane opened up about the process behind trading a second-round pick for wide receiver DJ Moore back in March. While we suspected it, Beane confirmed just how hands-on offensive coordinator Joe Brady was in the decision. "I thought DJ, he's a guy we followed all the way back from the draft process. A guy I checked into at the trade deadline last year," Beane shared. "And when you're looking at options, Joe Brady quickly reminds you, 'Yeah, he had one of his better years with me in Carolina.' Joe really loved DJ. So he knows his makeup, his wiring even better than I do."
That level of trust between a GM and his coordinator is rare, but it paid off. Beane also detailed the meticulous scouting that went into evaluating Moore, even when he wasn't catching passes. "We watched a ton of his play when he's not even getting the ball. What does he look like? Is he open? Is he beating routes or struggling with press coverage? All the things you're going to ask him to do," Beane explained. "We saw no decline in his play. We know he's football smart. We know his DNA. We know he loves ball. We know he's a great teammate. He checked a lot of boxes."
That's the kind of deep-dive scouting—pro or college—that separates contenders from pretenders, especially at the receiver position. For Bills fans, it's a reminder that every move, from trades to draft picks, is backed by relentless preparation. And with another trade-down offer reportedly on the table, Buffalo's front office isn't done shaping this roster just yet.
