The 2027 NFL Draft is already generating buzz, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are firmly in the spotlight. While the draft won't take place until next year in Washington, D.C., the mock drafts are rolling in—and the Bucs are looking to bolster their secondary with a top-tier prospect.
In the latest way-too-early mock draft from The Ringer's Todd McShay, the Bucs are projected to select Georgia cornerback Ellis Robinson IV. This pick makes sense for a team that's been quietly building a young, promising defensive backfield. Robinson, a second-team All-SEC selection last season, tied for the conference lead with four interceptions and added seven pass breakups. His ability to lock down receivers and create turnovers would be a major asset.
McShay notes that cornerback was a key need for the Bucs heading into the 2026 draft, but the team wisely opted for best-player-available with their top picks. Adding Keionte Scott in the fourth round was a steal, but the Bucs could still use more youth and depth at the position. Robinson could step in as the CB1 alongside Zyon McCollum, Jacob Parrish, and Scott, giving Tampa Bay one of the NFL's most exciting and up-and-coming secondaries.
With the draft still a year away, there's plenty of time for speculation—and for the Bucs to solidify their roster. But if this mock draft holds true, Tampa Bay's secondary could be a force to reckon with for years to come.
