The Bucs get attached to a different tight end in a new mock draft for the 2027 cycle.

The 2027 NFL Draft is still over a year away, but the buzz is already building—and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are at the center of it. With the draft set to take place in Washington, D.C., the Bucs currently hold their first-round pick, though plenty can change in the next 12 months. Still, early mock drafts are heating up, and one analyst has the team targeting a familiar position with a fresh new face.

ESPN's Jordan Reid dropped his latest way-too-early 2027 mock draft, and he has Tampa Bay going offense—specifically, adding a dynamic tight end. But this isn't just any tight end. Reid projects the Bucs to select LSU's Trey'Dez Green, a 6-foot-7, 240-pound matchup nightmare who's already turning heads in the SEC.

Reid describes Green as a "glorified, supersized receiver" who just happens to wear a tight end label. His numbers from last season—33 catches for 433 yards and seven touchdowns—are impressive, but it's where he scores that stands out. All seven of his touchdowns came inside the opponent's 25-yard line, making him a red-zone weapon defenses dread. With new LSU head coach Lane Kiffin expected to unleash a more explosive offense, Green's production could skyrocket in 2026.

For the Bucs, this pick would be a statement. Cade Otton has been solid at tight end, but Green offers a different dimension—an elite athlete who can stretch the field and dominate one-on-one matchups. Adding him to 12 personnel packages (two tight ends) could give Tampa Bay's offense a new layer of versatility and firepower.

As the 2026 college season approaches, all eyes will be on Green to see if he can live up to the hype. If he does, don't be surprised to see his name climbing even higher on draft boards—and maybe, just maybe, landing in a Buccaneers uniform.
