The clock is ticking on Giannis Antetokounmpo's future in Milwaukee, and Bucks co-owner Jimmy Haslam is ready to face the music head-on.

For months, the basketball world has been captivated by the ongoing will-they-won't-they saga between the two-time MVP and the franchise he led to its first championship in 50 years. Now, with the introduction of new head coach Taylor Jenkins, the Bucks have finally set a deadline for a decision.

"Giannis has brought Milwaukee its second championship and first in 50 years. He's a phenomenal player, he's a phenomenal person, he's arguably one of the best basketball players in the world," Haslam said during Wednesday's press conference. "We will do what's best for Giannis and what's best for the organization. We don't know whether Giannis will stay with us or not, but we'll work through that with Giannis in the coming weeks."

That timeline just got even more specific. Haslam later narrowed the window to "the next six or seven weeks," setting a de facto deadline ahead of the June 23 NBA Draft. With two years and $121.2 million remaining on his contract—including a $62.7 million player option next summer—Antetokounmpo's decision will shape the franchise's direction for years to come.

But perhaps the most telling moment came when general manager Jon Horst revealed that Antetokounmpo did not meet with Jenkins during the coaching search. In a league where star players often have significant input on coaching hires, this detail raised eyebrows.

"No (Antetokounmpo did not meet with Jenkins)," Horst said. "Every situation is different, and for us it's really important. This is about building the culture, the identity of the team... It was clear to us in who we needed to hire to have as a partner with our organization going forward to build sustainable success for years to come in Milwaukee."

Horst emphasized that no players were involved in the selection process—a departure from previous years when the Bucks sought counsel from their roster. While that doesn't necessarily signal the end of the Giannis era in Milwaukee, it does suggest the front office is preparing for all scenarios.

For Bucks fans, the next few weeks will be nerve-wracking. For the rest of the league, it's the biggest domino waiting to fall this offseason. Whether Antetokounmpo stays in Milwaukee or eventually dons a new jersey, one thing is clear: the decision is coming soon, and it will be made with the gravity it deserves.
