Bryson Stott hit a three-run homer to cap a six-run first inning, Jesús Luzardo pitched into the seventh and Philadelphia Phillies beat the Miami Marlins 7-2 on Sunday. Trea Turner led off the game with a ground-rule double off Chris Paddack (0-5), who then walked Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper to load the bases. Brandon Marsh walked to score another run and J.T. Realmuto hit a sacrifice fly on Paddack's 27th pitch for the first out and a 3-0 lead.

Bryson Stott launched a three-run homer to highlight a six-run first inning, and Jesús Luzardo delivered another dominant start as the Philadelphia Phillies cruised past the Miami Marlins 7-2 on Sunday. The win gave the Phillies a commanding lead in the series, showcasing the kind of explosive offense and lockdown pitching that has fans buzzing.

The game was decided almost before it began. Trea Turner set the tone with a ground-rule double off Marlins starter Chris Paddack (0-5), and Paddack’s command quickly unraveled. He walked Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper to load the bases, setting the stage for a relentless Phillies attack.

Alec Bohm drove in the first run with a slow roller, thanks to Harper’s heads-up hustle that beat shortstop Otto Lopez’s throw to second. Brandon Marsh then walked to force in another run, and J.T. Realmuto added a sacrifice fly on Paddack’s 27th pitch—the first out of the inning—to make it 3-0. Stott capped the rally with his second homer of the series, both three-run shots, sending the Phillies dugout into a frenzy.

The Phillies didn’t let up. Justin Crawford added a two-out RBI single in the third inning to stretch the lead to 7-0. Schwarber and Marsh each collected two hits as the team racked up 11 overall, a testament to their aggressive approach at the plate.

On the mound, Luzardo (3-3) was nearly untouchable. The left-hander, who threw seven scoreless innings in his last start, kept the Marlins off the board until the seventh inning. Esteury Ruiz hit a two-run homer, and Javier Sanoja followed with a double, ending Luzardo’s day. But the damage was minimal: Luzardo allowed two runs on eight hits while striking out 10 over 6⅓ innings. In his last two starts, he has struck out 18 batters with zero walks in 13⅓ innings—a stretch that has Phillies fans dreaming of October.

Chase Shugert and Orion Kerkering closed out the game with clean relief, preserving the win. For the Marlins, it was another tough day. Paddack allowed seven runs (six earned) in just 2⅔ innings, while Tyler Phillips and Josh Ekness (making his major league debut) provided some stability in relief.

The Phillies will look to take three of four in the series on Monday, sending right-hander Aaron Nola (1-3, 6.03 ERA) to the mound against Marlins righty Janson Junk (2-2, 3.00 ERA). With this kind of momentum, the Phillies are proving they’re a team to watch.
