Bryan Mbeumo has made a candid admission about his blockbuster move to Manchester United, revealing that securing Champions League qualification has been the perfect validation of his decision to swap Brentford for Old Trafford last summer.
The 26-year-old Cameroonian forward arrived at the Theatre of Dreams with a reputation forged during an impressive spell with the Bees, and he wasted no time making his mark. After claiming the club's Player of the Month awards for both September and October, Mbeumo has racked up an impressive 10 goals and three assists in 32 appearances across all competitions this season—starting all but three of those matches.
His impact has been particularly felt under caretaker manager Michael Carrick, with United enjoying 10 wins and three draws in 15 games under his stewardship. That blistering run has propelled the Red Devils to third place in the Premier League table with just two games remaining, meaning a single point against Nottingham Forest on 17 May would cement their position and secure a top-four finish.
While Mbeumo's goal-scoring output has naturally slowed since Carrick took the reins, he remains an indispensable figure in the first-team setup. Speaking in an interview with United Review, the forward was asked whether the club's resurgence and Champions League qualification had justified his summer switch. His response was refreshingly honest: "Of course, it's just like, again, a good answer for my choice. Yeah, I always trust the process, trust in my teammates, trust all the staff who bring me here and now, from Michael Carrick. Yeah, I'm really happy for what we have achieved and we just can't wait to go again."
Mbeumo also took time to acknowledge the role the Old Trafford faithful have played in his seamless transition to life at one of football's biggest clubs. "Being accepted by the fans is something that you always want," he said. "You are playing for yourself, for your family, for your friends, but also, and this is a big part, you play for the fans because, it was in every game that they are always behind us. They never stop cheering us. So yeah, being accepted from them is great for me."
When pressed to name his favorite goal in a United shirt, Mbeumo didn't hesitate. He pointed to his blistering strike against Liverpool in the 2-1 win at Anfield back in October, a match played under former manager Ruben Amorim—a moment that perfectly encapsulated the fearless approach that has made him a fan favorite at Old Trafford.
