Bruins Sign Lukas Reichel to Contract Extension

The Boston Bruins made a savvy move just after the trade deadline, and it's already paying dividends. On Thursday, the team announced that forward Lukas Reichel has signed a one-year contract extension worth $950,000, keeping him in black and gold through the 2026-27 season. The 23-year-old will be eligible for arbitration next summer.

Reichel, a native of Nürnberg, Germany, was acquired by the Bruins on March 6 in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick—a low-risk, high-reward gamble that now looks like a steal. It was his second trade of the 2025-26 season, after moving from Chicago to Vancouver earlier in the year.

Selected 17th overall by the Blackhawks in the 2020 NHL Draft, Reichel wasted no time making an impression in Boston. In just 10 regular-season games with the Bruins, he recorded three points (one goal, two assists), including a goal in his debut. He also made his Stanley Cup playoff debut in Game 4 of the first round, showing the kind of poise that made him a first-round pick.

With this extension, the Bruins will get a full training camp and preseason to evaluate Reichel's potential. Over his five-year NHL career, he has 62 points (23 goals, 39 assists) in 198 games. This season, he played in 29 NHL games, adding 27 more in the AHL with both the Providence Bruins and Abbotsford Canucks.

After the trade deadline, Reichel reported to Providence and later suited up for their Calder Cup playoff run, appearing in three games. In 148 career AHL games, he has 135 points (49 goals, 86 assists), proving he can produce at every level.

Reichel also represented Team Germany at the 2026 Winter Olympics, where he tallied two goals and an assist. Now, with a secure contract and a fresh start in Boston, he's poised to become a key piece of the Bruins' future.
