Brownsburg's star wide receiver, Branden Sharpe, is ready to make a play that could define his future. The two-time 1,000-yard receiver and two-time Class 6A state champion will announce his college decision this Monday at 6 p.m. from his high school.
Sharpe, a dynamic playmaker who has been a cornerstone of Brownsburg's back-to-back state title runs, narrowed his choices last month to a powerhouse list: Indiana, Vanderbilt, Cincinnati, and Purdue. He's already taken official visits to all four, starting with Indiana in late May and wrapping up with the others in June.
If you love game-changing performances, Sharpe's resume speaks for itself. In last season's 6A championship game, he was unstoppable, hauling in four passes for 151 yards and a touchdown, and electrifying the crowd with a 99-yard kickoff return for another score in a 38-31 victory over Westfield. For the season, he posted 59 receptions for 1,143 yards and 13 touchdowns. As a sophomore, he was even more prolific, catching 66 passes for 1,665 yards and seven touchdowns.
Before trimming his list, Sharpe had offers from a long list of programs, including Boston College, Houston, Iowa State, Maryland, Northwestern, South Florida, and Virginia Tech. Now, all eyes are on Monday as one of Indiana's top receivers gets ready to take the next step in his journey.
