The Cleveland Browns' quarterback carousel might be spinning toward another unexpected turn. After taking a flier on Shedeur Sanders and other signal-callers in recent drafts, the franchise could be eyeing a fresh face under center—and this one's flying under the radar.

According to ESPN's Jordan Reid, Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr is projected to land with the Browns at No. 4 overall in the 2027 NFL Draft. Carr, who started 12 games last season, threw for 2,741 yards and 24 touchdowns against just six interceptions, showcasing a quick release and sharp command at the line of scrimmage.

"He has polished throwing mechanics, with his eyes, base and throwing motion all tying together," Reid noted. "Expanding on his 2025 season would put him in position to be taken by a team such as the Browns, who will likely be willing to take a swing at a QB early despite selecting three in the past two drafts."

For Browns fans, the quarterback search has felt like Groundhog Day. From drafting multiple prospects to signing veterans, Cleveland has yet to find a long-term answer. Carr, though, offers a clean slate—a player with a growing resume and the kind of poise that could thrive in the AFC North's pressure-packed environment.

While it's too early to call him a sure thing, Carr's trajectory is promising. If he builds on his debut season, he could be the steady presence the Browns have been hunting. And in a league where quarterback stability is gold, Cleveland might just strike it rich with a Notre Dame star no one's talking about—yet.
