The Cleveland Browns have gone back-to-back with Alabama players, taking linebacker Justin Jefferson after taking center Parker Brailsford with their previous pick. This pick adds even more athleticism to the linebacker room that already includes the reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year, Carson Schwesinger, and veteran free agent signing Quincy Williams.
Jefferson is undersized, but his lateral movement skills give him good sideline-to-sideline range, and he has the speed to keep up with a lot of tight ends in coverage. He has solid instincts in zone coverage, and he is a reliable tackler. His athletic profile could make him a great special-teams player.
Jefferson could benefit from more size and strength, as he can struggle to get off blocks when offensive linemen get into his chest and take control of the reps. He definitely has the upside and tools to be a good depth player on top of being a special teams guy, and could develop into a contributor in the future.
