The Cleveland Browns made a roster move Friday that could pay dividends on their defensive line. The team announced they've claimed defensive tackle Elijah Chatman off waivers from the New York Giants, filling the spot opened when linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah was placed on the reserve/physically unable to perform list earlier the same day.

Chatman, an undrafted free agent out of SMU, originally signed with the Giants in 2024 and quickly turned heads during training camp. His impressive performance earned him a spot on the 53-man roster, and just a few weeks later, he recorded his first career NFL sack—against, you guessed it, the Browns.

As a rookie, Chatman appeared in all 17 games, starting three of them, and finished with 21 tackles. While he spent most of the 2025 season on New York's practice squad, his early flashes of potential suggest he could bring valuable depth to Cleveland's defensive interior. Now, with a fresh start in Cleveland, Chatman will have the opportunity to compete for a rotational role and prove he belongs on Sundays.
