The Cleveland Browns made waves in the first round of the NFL Draft. With the first move of the draft, they traded back and then selected one of the best offensive tackles in the draft with the ninth overall pick. They came back around at the end of the round and selected Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion at pick number 24.

Concepcion has had a very interesting college career. It began in 2023 with the NC State Wolfpack, where he spent two seasons. Then, in his third year, he hit the transfer portal and landed with the Texas A&M Aggies, where his game exploded.

Last season, he finished with 61 catches for 919 yards and nine touchdowns to lead the Aggies into the playoffs. He was a source of explosion for Texas A&M and looks to be that for Todd Monken and the Cleveland Browns.

New Browns WR KC Concepcion played 61% of his snaps out wide last season and 37% in the slot, so there's some versatility to line up in multiple spots in Todd Monken's offense.

Concepcion's biggest question mark is, unfortunately, catching the football. He had seven drops last season at Texas A&M but it is noted that it was much more of a "concentration thing" and not related to his skills and abilities.

Concepcion has elite speed, elite route running, and he was absolutely a big play guy in college for Texas A&M. As his game translates to Cleveland, he may have found his perfect landing spot with Todd Monken.

Monken made a lot of yards through wide receiver Zay Flowers in his time with Baltimore, and Concepcion will be relied upon in a similar way. Last year, Flowers had nearly 1,200 yards on 86 catches, good for five touchdowns. Monken knows how to get his speedy receivers the ball in space, and he is going to have to replicate that with Concepcion.

Next up for the Browns on Friday night are picks 39, 70, and 74 for the Browns. I would not be surprised if they explored a trade-up to land a player like Emmanuel McNeil-Warren or another top-flight defender early in the second round.

Regardless, round one leans toward being a successful round for the Cleveland Browns, but the grade in this draft will have to wait for at least a couple of years.
