The Louisville football community is mourning the loss of one of its legendary quarterbacks. Browning Nagle, the former Cardinals star and NFL signal-caller, has passed away at the age of 57, the university announced Friday.

Nagle's legacy at Louisville is forever defined by a single, iconic performance. In the 1991 Fiesta Bowl, he led the Cardinals to a stunning 34-7 victory over a powerhouse Alabama team, earning MVP honors and cementing his place in program history. A transfer from West Virginia, Nagle finished his college career with 4,653 passing yards and 32 touchdowns, showcasing the strong arm that would catch the eye of NFL scouts.

His success propelled him to the professional stage, where he was selected in the second round of the 1991 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. Nagle's five-year NFL journey also included stints with the Indianapolis Colts and Atlanta Falcons, fulfilling the dream of countless young athletes who strive to play on football's biggest stage.
