Brooks Koepka is back in familiar territory—but not the kind he's used to. The five-time major champion is navigating a new chapter that feels like a throwback to his early days on tour: leaner, humbler, and surprisingly freeing.

Koepka's equipment deal with Dunlop Sports Americas, the parent company of Srixon and Cleveland Golf, has officially ended. That means one of golf's most decorated players is now a free agent in the gear world, a rare position that brings both uncertainty and opportunity.

"It's different. I had a great time with Srixon. They were fantastic," Koepka shared on Wednesday. "Four years, it flew by. Yeah, it was great. But, yeah, just going to get back to where I was I felt like. I'm trying to think, '17 and pretty much '21 I was a free agent."

For fans tracking his journey, this isn't entirely new territory. Koepka has been here before, and each time he's found his way back to the winner's circle. But his time with LIV Golf has changed the landscape. Without regular access to equipment trucks and the constant flow of new gear that PGA Tour players enjoy, Koepka admits he's been out of the loop.

"Over the last few years there's been no equipment trucks. There's been no anything, so I don't really know what's out there," he explained. "I haven't given it too much thought as of right now just because it's so fresh. Just trying to focus on just going to play good golf."

He added: "But, yeah, with equipment trucks, everything, it's kind of eye-opening when you come back, because I don't think people realize that, at least I didn't—how much stuff is out there and the opportunity you might have."

This week, Koepka is teeing it up at the Oneflight Myrtle Beach Classic, an opposite-field event on the PGA Tour. As part of his "Returning Member Program," he's unable to receive sponsor invites to Signature Events like the Truist Championship, so he's making the most of his starts where he can get them.

For golf fans and gear enthusiasts alike, Koepka's free agency is a storyline worth watching. When a player of his caliber hits the open market, the possibilities are endless—and the right equipment could be the key to his next major breakthrough.
