The Denver Broncos have locked in their general manager for the long haul. George Paton, who has been leading the team's front office for five seasons, has signed a new contract that extends through 2030.

"We are pleased to announce a new five-year contract for George Paton that reflects our confidence in his leadership, vision, and the overall direction of our team," CEO Greg Penner said in a team statement. "As our General Manager, George has demonstrated a strong commitment toward building a winning roster while forming a collaborative and supportive partnership with Sean Payton."

Paton's journey to Denver wasn't a quick one. He spent 14 years with the Minnesota Vikings, passing on other opportunities before finally taking the reins with the Broncos. His arrival predated the Walton-Penner group's purchase of the team—and the hiring of head coach Sean Payton.

It hasn't always been smooth sailing. Paton and the organization had to navigate the fallout from the ill-advised trade for Russell Wilson, as well as the even more questionable market-level contract Wilson received before playing a single snap in Denver. But together with Payton, Paton has built an elite team that has overcome those early missteps.

The results speak for themselves. The Broncos have made the playoffs in two straight seasons and secured the top seed in the AFC in 2025. With Paton now locked in through the end of the decade, Denver's future looks brighter than ever.
