It's a name that carries serious weight in NFL history—and this weekend, it's headed to Denver.
The Denver Broncos have invited E.J. Warner, son of Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner, to their rookie minicamp on a tryout basis. The younger Warner, a 6-foot, 203-pound quarterback, has accepted the invitation, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
Warner's college journey is a story of persistence. After two seasons at Temple and a year at Rice, he transferred to Fresno State ahead of the 2025 season. With the Bulldogs, he went 7-3 as a starter, throwing for 2,030 yards with 13 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He also showed some mobility, rushing for 126 yards and a score.
This isn't Warner's first NFL tryout. He attended the Kansas City Chiefs' rookie camp just last week but wasn't signed. Now, after getting a look from Andy Reid, he'll aim to impress Broncos head coach Sean Payton.
Denver's rookie minicamp runs from May 8-10. Alongside Warner, the team is also expected to bring in a veteran quarterback for a tryout, adding some intriguing competition to the weekend.
For a quarterback with a famous last name, this is another chance to carve his own path—and in a Broncos jersey, under a Super Bowl-winning coach, the spotlight just got a little brighter.
