Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton is keeping a cool head as the team heads into organized team activities (OTAs) this June. Despite some chatter about adding a fourth quarterback to the roster, Payton remains confident that two healthy signal-callers are plenty for now.

At rookie minicamp over the weekend, Payton offered an encouraging update on quarterback Bo Nix, who is recovering from an ankle injury. Nix is expected to be fully ready for training camp later this summer, though he may be limited or held out during early OTAs. That hasn't pushed the Broncos into a panic signing, however.

Denver recently hosted two tryout quarterbacks—rookie E.J. Warner and veteran Nathan Peterman—at minicamp, but neither was signed. When asked about the possibility of bringing in a fourth QB, Payton explained the team's measured approach. "We'll discuss that," he said. "Look, we have 90 roster spots, so it's possible you can bring someone back on a trial basis for the June minicamp. Yet, generally with those practices, two is not a problem."

Payton added that the situation would be more concerning if a player were expected to start training camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, but that's not the case with Nix. "I'm not saying we couldn't sign an additional quarterback. We've discussed it, but really more in terms of, 'Do we see something in these two guys?'"

For now, the Broncos are moving forward with Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger as their two healthy quarterbacks. While it's still possible that Warner, Peterman, or another option could be signed closer to OTAs or minicamp in June, the team is taking a patient, strategic approach. After all, as Payton knows, sometimes less is more when it comes to building rhythm and chemistry on the field—a lesson that applies just as much to your game-day gear as it does to roster management.
