Reigning British champion William Creighton says it is the "right step" to step up into the European Rally Championship.

Fresh off a dominant British Rally Championship title defense, William Creighton is shifting gears and aiming for continental glory. The 28-year-old champion has confirmed his step up to the highly competitive European Rally Championship (ERC), calling it the natural and "right step" in his career trajectory.

Creighton's confidence is well-earned. His 2023 BRC campaign was a masterclass, featuring two wins and two additional podiums on his way to the crown. Now, he's ready to test that winning form against Europe's elite. "It's a very high level of the sport, so it's going to be a big challenge," Creighton acknowledged, his eyes firmly on the "next level."

His European campaign kicks off on the demanding gravel roads of Rallye Serras de Fafe in Portugal this March. He will pilot a Citroën C3 Rally2 car for the Stellantis Motorsport team, a significant partnership that underscores his rising status. The season promises a classic ERC mix of terrain, with later rounds taking him to the snow of Sweden, the asphalt of Rome, and the fast forests of Poland.

This move has been part of a calculated plan. "We wanted to use the British Rally Championship as an opportunity to get that title and then move back into international events," Creighton explained. With that mission accomplished, the focus is fully on making an immediate impact in the ERC. "Fingers crossed we can do a good job this year," he added, the ambition clear in his voice.

For rally fans and anyone who appreciates a driver pushing their limits, Creighton's ascent is a thrilling story to follow. It’s the classic sporting journey: master your domain, then seek out a greater challenge. As he trades the familiar lanes of Britain for Europe's most iconic rally stages, all eyes will be on this champion to see if he can translate his domestic dominance into international success.
