In what was shaping up to be a career-defining outing, Brewers flamethrower Jacob Misiorowski was forced to exit his start against the Washington Nationals on May 1 due to a right hamstring cramp—despite carrying a no-hitter into the sixth inning.

The 23-year-old right-hander had been dominant at Nationals Park, retiring 11 straight batters after a second-inning walk and striking out the side in the fifth on just 11 pitches. His fastball was touching 101.5 mph, and he had already fanned eight batters over 5⅓ innings when discomfort struck mid-at-bat in the sixth.

After getting the first out of the inning, Misiorowski threw a 98.9 mph fastball to James Wood before signaling to the dugout. Manager Pat Murphy and head athletic trainer Brad Epstein rushed to the mound, and after a brief discussion, the young star was replaced by Aaron Ashby.

It was a tough blow for Milwaukee, especially coming a day after fellow starter Brandon Woodruff exited early with shoulder inflammation and landed on the injured list. The Brewers bullpen managed to preserve the lead, though the no-hitter was broken up with one out in the seventh on a double by Daylen Lile. Milwaukee still held a 4-1 advantage after seven innings.

Misiorowski's performance was nothing short of electric. According to MLB researcher Sarah Langs, he threw 43 pitches at 100 mph or more—the third-highest total in any individual start since pitch tracking began in 2008. Entering the night, he boasted a 3.31 ERA and led the league with 51 strikeouts over six starts.

While the cramp forced an early exit, the outing showcased exactly why Misiorowski is one of the most exciting young arms in the game. For Brewers fans, the hope is that this is just a minor setback for a pitcher who seems destined for big things.
