Brewers eke one out for Aaron Ashby’s MLB-leading eighth win

The Milwaukee Brewers pulled off a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night, thanks to a controversial obstruction call and a clutch eighth-inning rally. The win marked the Brewers' 25th of the season and secured Aaron Ashby's MLB-leading eighth win out of the bullpen.

The game started with a bang for Milwaukee. Jackson Chourio led off with a double, advanced on a Brice Turang flyout, and scored on a William Contreras single that deflected off shortstop Brooks Lee's glove. That early 1-0 lead set the tone, but the Twins quickly settled in.

Starting pitcher Coleman Crow and Twins starter Joe Ryan traded scoreless innings for a stretch. Crow was sharp early, retiring nine straight batters after the first. The Brewers' Jake Bauers extended his on-base streak to 17 games with a fourth-inning single and stolen base, but he was stranded at third after a nice defensive play by Lee.

The Twins finally threatened in the fifth. Kody Clemens was hit by a pitch and Ryan Kreidler singled, putting runners at the corners with two outs. But Kreidler was caught stealing second to end the inning. In the sixth, Crow allowed back-to-back singles to open the frame, bringing Aaron Ashby into the game. Ashby induced a key double play that cleared the bases, though a run scored to tie the game 1-1. Crow finished with a no-decision after 5+ innings, allowing one run on three hits with three strikeouts and no walks.

The Brewers responded immediately in the seventh. Andrew Vaughn and Sal Frelick hit one-out singles, setting the stage for Luis Rengifo. He grounded into what was initially called a double play, but the umpires ruled Twins third baseman Royce Lewis obstructed Frelick's path to second base. The call gave the Brewers a second chance, and they capitalized. Rengifo reached safely, Frelick moved to third, and a sacrifice fly tied the game. An RBI single later in the inning gave Milwaukee the lead for good.

Ashby earned his eighth win, becoming the first Brewers reliever to reach that mark this season. The victory keeps Milwaukee hot in the standings and showcases the grit that defines this team. For fans of baseball drama—and the Brewers' stylish navy and gold—this was a night to remember.
