Vaughn's return follows a similar path. The first baseman also saw minimal action during his rehab assignment, but he was swinging the bat well before his injury. After joining the Brewers last season, Vaughn became a key contributor down the stretch, delivering a surge in offensive production that carried into the postseason. His strong spring before surgery only raised expectations for what he can bring back to the lineup.
To accommodate these moves, the Brewers parted ways with Jones, a former first-round pick who struggled to find his footing in limited big-league opportunities. Despite his athleticism and speed—long considered his top assets—Jones appeared in only a handful of games and had difficulty making consistent contact.
