The Brewers made a last-second change to their lineup against the Cardinals on Wednesday afternoon.

The Milwaukee Brewers made a last-minute adjustment to their lineup ahead of Wednesday afternoon's matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals, scratching center fielder Garrett Mitchell due to illness. The change was first reported by MLB.com's Adam McCalvy.

Mitchell, who has been in a recent slump at the plate with just four hits in his last 22 at-bats over five games, will sit out as the Brewers look to even the series. On the season, the 26-year-old is slashing .219/.364/.333 across 32 appearances—a tough stretch for a player trying to find his rhythm.

With Mitchell out, the Brewers shuffled the outfield and batting order. Sal Frelick moves into the leadoff spot, Jackson Chourio shifts from left to center field, and Tyler Black enters the lineup in left field. Black will make his first start since last week, giving Milwaukee a fresh look in the outfield.

Wednesday's game is the second of a series between two National League Central powerhouses. The Cardinals took the opener 6-3, fueled by Ivan Herrera's two-hit, three-RBI performance. The Brewers actually out-hit St. Louis 11-8 in that game but struggled to bring runners home—a storyline they'll hope to reverse today.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. EST at American Family Field.
