New York Jets running back Breece Hall isn't shying away from the truth about his early NFL years—and he's setting the bar high for what's to come in 2026.
After locking in a long-term contract with the Jets, Hall is ready to turn the page. He's hopeful that under new head coach Aaron Glenn, the franchise can finally start building something real. But he's not pretending the road has been smooth so far.
In a brutally honest moment, Hall reflected on his first few seasons in New York and admitted the circumstances haven't always been ideal. "I feel like I'm the only running back that's consistently a top-10 back in the league that hasn't in the past been always in the most ideal situation," Hall said. "I feel like now … really put me in position with all the guys we brought in and the team we're building around us to really flourish and for me to really be myself."
And then came the big expectation: "God-willing, we stay healthy and everything goes as planned, I feel like this could be my best season, for sure."
That's a bold statement considering Hall's best season to date came in 2025, when he rushed for 1,065 yards. But he's never topped five rushing touchdowns in a single season—so breaking through that ceiling will require a career year.
Here's the good news: The Jets have loaded up around him. With Geno Smith at quarterback, Garrett Wilson as a top-tier wideout, and a deep supporting cast that includes Omar Cooper Jr., Adonai Mitchell, Mason Taylor, and Kenyon Sadiq, defenses won't be able to stack the box and sell out against the run. That kind of weaponry changes everything for a running back.
Hall has every reason to believe this is his best chance yet. For the first time in his career, he's not just a talented back stuck in a tough situation—he's the centerpiece of an offense built to let him thrive. If everything clicks, 2026 could be the season that changes how we talk about Breece Hall.
