Alabama football is taking a patient approach to the 2027 recruiting class—and if history is any guide, that patience is about to pay off big time. With just six early commitments, the Crimson Tide currently sit tied for the third-fewest pledges among SEC programs. But remember last year? By the time summer rolled around, no team was hotter on the trail than Kalen DeBoer and his staff.
Leading the charge is five-star quarterback Elijah Haven, the top-ranked QB in the Rivals Industry Ranking. Choosing Alabama over Florida, Georgia, and a host of other elite programs, Haven cited DeBoer's proven track record of developing signal-callers as a major factor. "Coach DeBoer is a great guy and an amazing coach. He produces at the QB level," Haven told Rivals. "With Ty Simpson this year, they did a helluva job. Coach DeBoer is the leading factor of that."
Haven isn't alone under center. Four-star quarterback Trent Seaborn is also on board, making the Tide the only school with two passers committed to the prestigious Elite 11 Finals since Taulia Tagovailoa and Paul Tyson in 2018. That kind of quarterback depth is a dream for any program—and a sign of Alabama's long-term vision.
The Tide's 2027 class, ranked No. 26 nationally, also features four-star tight end Colt Lumpris and three-star Oakley Keegan, giving Alabama a double dose of talent at a position that's become increasingly vital in modern offenses. On the defensive side, edge rushers AJ Pauley and Stevan Thornton III—both three-star prospects that Rivals rates higher than the rest of the industry—add pass-rushing potential that could pay dividends down the road.
With official visit season just around the corner, Alabama is positioned to make a major leap. The foundation is already strong, and if last summer was any indication, the best is yet to come for the Crimson Tide faithful.
