Tate Southisene continued his impressive debut season, launching a home run and driving in three runs to lead Augusta to victory. The first-round pick's power display was the highlight of a strong night for Braves minor league affiliates, with several teams picking up wins across the system.
In Triple-A action, the Gwinnett Stripers improved to 22-13 with an 8-6 win over Norfolk, despite using another bullpen game due to injuries depleting Atlanta's rotation. Starter Anthony Molina struggled early, surrendering back-to-back home runs in the first inning that put Gwinnett in a 3-0 hole. He allowed a fourth run in the third, but the Stripers stayed close thanks to Brewer Hicklen's two-run homer in the second inning.
The game turned in the fifth when rehabbing infielder Ha-Seong Kim delivered a run-scoring single to cut the deficit to 4-3. Then Victor Mederos took over on the mound, striking out six batters over four dominant innings while generating nine whiffs. That set the stage for DaShawn Keirsey Jr., who tied the game with an RBI double in the eighth inning. Chadwick Tromp followed with a go-ahead single, giving Gwinnett its first lead of the night.
The drama wasn't over, however. Closer Joel Payamps couldn't hold the lead, allowing two runs in the bottom of the eighth to put Norfolk back on top. But the Stripers rallied in the ninth, loading the bases on singles from Ben Gamel and Luke Williams, followed by a walk to Aaron Schunk. A key overturned call kept the inning alive, and Gwinnett capitalized to reclaim the lead and secure the win.
DaShawn Keirsey finished 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored, while Hicklen went 2-for-4 with his home run and two RBIs. The Stripers continue to impress despite roster shuffling, showing the depth that has made them one of the top teams in the International League.
