As Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson continues to add to his consecutive games streak, he is also building his case to win the National League MVP award this season.

Matt Olson is making a powerful statement in the National League MVP race, and he just added another milestone to his resume.

The Atlanta Braves first baseman crushed his 300th career home run on Monday night against the Seattle Mariners, a solo shot in the top of the sixth inning. While the Braves ultimately fell 5-4, Olson's achievement highlighted an otherwise tough loss for the team.

"Yeah, obviously, a great milestone, able to get the ball back," Olson said to Chad Bishop of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I wish we could have gotten the win on top of it, to make it a little sweeter. But you're gonna remember that one."

Olson went 1-for-3 in the game with a walk and a run scored, but his impact this season goes far beyond one swing. The three-time All-Star is currently leading the National League with 12 home runs, tied for third in all of MLB. He also tops the majors in RBIs (32), shares the league lead in runs scored (33), and paces the NL in doubles (15).

The Braves' offense showed some pop even in the loss, with catcher Drake Baldwin and second baseman Ozzie Albies also going deep. But Monday's game was marred by a shaky outing from right-hander JR Ritchie, who allowed three earned runs and six walks over five innings in just his third career start.

What makes Olson's MVP case even more compelling is his durability. The three-time Gold Glove winner is maintaining an impressive consecutive games streak while putting up elite numbers at the plate. For a Braves team looking to stay competitive in a tough NL East, having a player who can deliver both power and consistency is invaluable.

As the season heats up, Olson's combination of home run power, run production, and defensive excellence makes him a strong candidate for the league's top individual honor. If he keeps this pace, that MVP trophy might just be the next milestone to add to his collection.
