If the Braves were going to see this series-winning streak end any time soon, it was bound to happen somewhere out West.

If the Braves were going to see their series-winning streak end anytime soon, it was bound to happen somewhere out West. The West Coast has never been kind to Atlanta, and this series in Seattle was yet another reminder of that harsh reality.

The Mariners came into this series on a sour note, having been swept at home by the Royals over the weekend. But as any Braves fan knows, games out West are a different beast entirely. They tend to go one of two ways: miserable slogs that leave you wondering why you stayed up all night, or gritty, claw-your-way-back victories that somehow feel just as exhausting. This series was no exception.

Game one, however, started with a bang. The Braves' bats were alive and well, and they wasted no time making a statement against Mariners starter Logan Gilbert. Atlanta tagged him for four home runs over six innings, with Matt Olson's blast standing out as the 300th homer of his career. Drake Baldwin, Ozzie Albies, and Austin Riley also went deep, with Riley's shot making it a 4-0 game in the top of the sixth. That inning alone saw the Braves hit three homers, and for a moment, it looked like they were in complete control.

But then the wheels started to come off. Braves starter JR Ritchie had been cruising through five innings, but the sixth proved to be his undoing. Two of his six walks came in that frame, and both came back to haunt him when Luke Raley launched a three-run homer to bring Seattle within one. Tyler Kinley came on in relief and managed to get two outs, but J.P. Crawford delivered the knockout blow, lifting a go-ahead hit that silenced the Braves' dugout. The streak was over.

It's a tough pill to swallow, especially after such a promising start. But if there's one thing this Braves team has shown, it's resilience. They'll look to regroup and get back on track, because in the grind of a long season, every series is a new opportunity to make a statement.
