Make it an even half dozen for Michigan basketball freshmen in the class of 2026.
The Wolverines announced an initial quartet of signees in the class of 2026 back in November 2025, but on Tuesday, April 28, the program added what is expected to be their final two players in the class, in Brandon McCoy Jr. and Lincoln Cosby.
“Brandon and Lincoln are two outstanding additions to our program," U-M coach Dusty May said in a release announcing the additions. "Brandon is an explosive scorer and competitor who impacts the game on both ends of the floor. Lincoln has tremendous size, versatility and upside, and we're excited about his long-term future. Both fit the culture and vision we're building at Michigan."

McCoy, who signed with the Wolverines at halftime of U-M's national semifinal blowout of Arizona on April 4, is now the crown jewel of the class for the defending champions.
The 6-foot-5, 190-pound shooting guard joins the Wolverines after he was ranked as 2026's No. 2 shooting guard, No. 3 senior in California and No. 13 player in the nation regardless of position, according to 247 Sports' composite rankings.
A standout who began his career at St. John Bosco in Bellflower, California, before transferring to Sierra Canyon in Chatsworth, California, McCoy led his final program to a 30-1 record and the 2026 CIF-SS Open Division title. He averaged 19.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals per game as he was named 2026 California All-State Player of the Year. He was selected to the McDonald's All-American Game and Jordan Brand Classic.
“Brandon is a special talent and someone who has the ability to impact the game in so many ways,” May said in the release. “He has a special feel for the game and competitiveness that really stands out. He can score at all three levels, create for others, and make winning plays on both ends of the floor.
“What stands out most is his approach to the game and his desire to keep getting better."
Cosby, meanwhile, will redshirt the 2026-27 seasons, according to the release, as he recovers from a torn ACL.
The wing, out of powerhouse Monteverde Academy in Florida, stands 6-8 and 195 pounds, but played just five games last season before suffering his season-ending injury.
Before that, he was the youngest player to sign with Overtime Elite in AAU, averaging 17.4 points per game with 444 Athletics on the Puma Pro16 circuit.

Cosby is ranked as the No. 7 player in Florida, No. 14 wing nationalls and No. 38 overall player for 2026, per 247 Sports' composite rankings.
"Lincoln has great size, athleticism and versatility, and he impacts the game in a lot of ways,” May said in a release. “He can defend multiple positions, rebound, run the floor, and make plays with the ball in his hands. We're excited to support him through his rehab process and help him come back even stronger."
Cosby and McCoy join heralded commits Quinn Costello (Massachusetts), Joseph Hartman (Florida), Malachi Brown (Tennessee) and Marcus Moeller (Spain) in the class of 2026. With one five-star (McCoy) and three four-stars (Cosby, Costello and Hartman), the Wolverines' class ranks third in the nation (behind only Arkansas and Duke), per 247 Sports, and tops in the Big Ten.
