Since he was young, Brandon Cisse has studied Charles Woodson’s game film. Now the Packers rookie cornerback is wearing his Heisman Trophy number.

When Brandon Cisse pulls on his Green Bay Packers jersey this season, the No. 2 on his back carries more meaning than just a draft slot. The rookie cornerback, selected in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, isn't just wearing a number—he's paying homage to a legend.

For Cisse, that number is a direct nod to Charles Woodson, the Heisman Trophy winner and Packers Hall of Famer who famously wore No. 2 during his college days at Michigan. "When you had the Rose Bowl, when you had the rose in his mouth with the 2—that's a picture I still have in my phone," Cisse said after his first rookie minicamp practice.

The connection runs deeper than just a jersey number. Cisse's father introduced him to Woodson's game film when he was a kid, and the rookie hasn't stopped studying ever since. "Elite ball skills, freakishly athletic, could do everything, super versatile, and just his mentality," Cisse said, describing what he admires. "He changes games. So he's always one of my favorites to watch."

It's a lofty standard for any rookie to chase, but the Packers see the potential. At 5-foot-11¾ and a playing weight of 198 pounds, Cisse brings the kind of size and athleticism that made Woodson a game-changer. While his college stats—just two interceptions in three years—don't scream "elite ball skills" yet, Green Bay is betting on his upside.

The Packers are hoping Cisse can develop into the second starting cornerback opposite Keisean Nixon, and while no one expects him to replicate Woodson's Hall of Fame career overnight, the offseason is all about hope. For now, Cisse has the number, the film study, and the drive. The rest? That's a story waiting to be written.
