It should come as no surprise that Brandel Chamblee found a way to criticise Jon Rahm after his win at LIV Golf Mexico City on Sunday.

Chamblee has been one of LIV Golf’s biggest critics since their inception in 2022.

Rahm is the best player on LIV Golf; there is no doubt about that.

However, Brandel Chamblee found a way to diminish Jon Rahm‘s latest LIV Golf victory and it must be said, it’s hard to argue against his point.

Chamblee predicted the end of LIV Golf after the bombshell news emerged on Wednesday that Saudi Arabia’s PIF could be prepared to stop funding the league.

Quite what the future holds for LIV, and indeed Rahm, remains to be seen.

However, Chamblee believes it’s all immaterial anyway.

Rahm raced away with the win in Mexico on Sunday, defeating his countryman, David Puig, by a whopping six shots.

Incredibly, he hasn’t finished outside the top five so far this season.

However, the general consensus is that all of his achievements on LIV are fairly meaningless, due to his poor performances in the majors.

Chamblee took to his official X account in reaction to Rahm’s six-stroke victory in Mexico City on Sunday.

“He beat players who sacrificed their careers to play on a tour that was hotter cooked than eaten,“ Chamblee said.

What the former PGA Tour player means by that is that the idea of LIV Golf was better in conception than it is in its final form.

Rahm took a gamble that his move to LIV Golf would be the tipping point regarding unification with the PGA Tour.

However, since the Spaniard joined the Saudi-backed league, the PGA Tour has gone from strength to strength, while LIV continues to struggle.

LIV Golf simply doesn’t resonate with the vast majority of golf fans.

The lack of jeopardy and non existent strength in depth in their fields mean there is little interest in their events.

Add to that their lack of history and tradition and it’s easy to see why LIV Golf has been a failure up to this point.

Jon Rahm won’t admit it, but he must be regretting his decision to leave the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf back in 2023.

He has damaged his legacy with that decision and it could be argued that he will never be able to repair that damage, regardless of what happens in the future.
