The Blooming Prairie softball team faced a tough challenge Tuesday, falling to Goodhue 17-10 in a high-scoring affair. Despite the loss, the Awesome Blossoms (3-10 overall) showed plenty of fight at the plate, with Grace Anderson and Ellie Stoen each driving in two runs to keep the game competitive against a Goodhue squad that improved to 6-8 on the season.
On the mound, Aubree Johnson took the loss after a grueling 5 2/3 innings, allowing 16 runs—only eight of which were earned—on seven hits while striking out three. Control proved costly, as she issued 13 walks. Raylee Miner provided relief, tossing 1 1/3 innings and allowing just one unearned run on one hit with a strikeout.
The Blooming Prairie offense came alive despite the defeat. Madelyn Harvey led the charge, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs scored, and two walks. Bela Schiller added a triple and drove in a run, while Kenley Bangert knocked a double and an RBI. Grace Anderson and Ellie Stoen both finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run each, anchoring the middle of the lineup. Annika Schwarck chipped in a hit, and Neila Nelson scored a run in a 1-for-4 effort. Raylee Miner also contributed an RBI at the plate.
For a young team still finding its rhythm, this game offered valuable lessons in resilience and offensive firepower—qualities that will serve the Awesome Blossoms well as they push through the rest of the season.
