The stage is set for an epic rematch in the Lackawanna League boys volleyball title game, as Abington Heights and Valley View prepare to settle the score after a regular season that ended in a dead heat. Both teams finished with identical 9-1 league records, forcing a winner-take-all championship showdown on Monday at 6 p.m. at North Pocono High School. This isn't just another match—it's a battle for bragging rights and the league crown.

The first meeting between these two powerhouses was nothing short of electric. Valley View struck first, taking the opening set 25-23, but Abington Heights answered back with 25-21 and 25-20 victories. The Cougars refused to back down, forcing a thrilling fifth set with a 29-27 win in the fourth. In the end, the Comets closed out the match 15-12 in a race that had fans on the edge of their seats.

For Abington Heights, junior Nolan Moore has been a standout, leading the team with 185 kills, 146 service points, 28 aces, and 84 digs. He's supported by Dan Beck (152 kills, 46 blocks), Billy Johnson (122 kills, 35 blocks), and Ben Reese (110 kills). All-Region setter Ryan Horutz orchestrates the offense with 499 assists, while also contributing 47 aces and 127 digs. Chase Beerman and Chris Cummins add depth with 123 and 109 service points, respectively, with Cummins leading the defense at 195 digs.

Valley View counters with its own arsenal of talent. Luke Stevens, an All-Region player in 2025, has been a force with 194 kills, 102 service points, 40 aces, 29 blocks, and 64 digs. Senior Jagger Roe adds 122 kills, 124 service points, and 22 aces, while sophomore Drew Stevens contributes 102 kills and 56 digs. Mike Shemonski rounds out the attack with 84 kills. The Cougars have shown resilience, bouncing back from their loss to Abington Heights with three straight wins, including a dramatic five-set victory over Holy Redeemer, the defending District 2 Class 2A champion.

After Monday's title clash, both teams will shift focus to the District 2 playoffs. Abington Heights enters as the No. 2 seed in Class 3A, aiming to defend its title, while Valley View is the No. 3 seed in Class 2A. But first, it's all about settling the league debate. And while the outcome won't affect district power ratings, you can bet both teams will leave everything on the court for that championship trophy.
