The Logansport Berries are picking up right where they left off. For the second consecutive season, the boys golf team opened their campaign with a statement victory, capturing the Rochester Invitational title at Round Barn Golf Club this past Saturday.

Not only did they win, but they did so with authority, posting a team score of 321—a full seven strokes better than their winning mark from a year ago. This early-season precision sets a powerful tone for a squad with championship aspirations.

Leading the charge for the Berries were Graham Taylor and Louis Rozzi, who both carded solid rounds of 79 to tie for fourth individually. They were backed by a consistent team effort from Eli Baldwin (81) and Evan Brandstatter (82), showcasing the depth that makes this team a formidable contender.

This win is a promising sign for a program still riding the high of last year's Logansport Sectional championship. With all five members of that title-winning team returning, the excitement is palpable. "How exciting for the program," said head coach Abby Lundy, who praised her team's composure after a frost-delayed start. "They came out and played really well... and we were able to pull out the win."

Coach Lundy highlighted the dedicated offseason work that fueled this strong start, noting that several players, including Taylor and Brandstatter, utilized simulators and winter tournaments to sharpen their games. That preparation was evident on the course.

The invitational also featured strong showings from local rivals. Pioneer High School finished a respectable fifth, powered by Ivan Reyes's impressive 1-over par 73, which earned him second overall medalist honors. Meanwhile, Lewis Cass placed seventh, led by Michael Myers, who also fired a 79 to tie for fourth individually.

For a team built on continuity and hard work, this repeat victory is more than just a season opener—it's a declaration of intent. The Berries have clearly put in the work, and they're dressed for success as they defend their sectional crown and aim for even greater heights this season.
