The Blooming Prairie baseball team is heating up, and Thursday’s matchup against Waterville-Elysian-Morristown was all about one name: Bradley Boyd. Boyd not only earned the win on the mound but also made noise at the plate, leading the Blossoms to an impressive 11-3 victory.
Blooming Prairie, now 9-3 overall, took control early and never looked back. Boyd tossed four solid innings, allowing just two runs (one earned) on five hits while striking out three. He was equally effective with the bat, going 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, crossing the plate twice himself. It’s the kind of all-around performance that every coach dreams of.
Reliever Brayton Ingvalson kept the Bucs at bay with three innings of one-run ball, and the Blossoms’ offense backed him up in a big way. Brayton also contributed at the plate, driving in four runs—a team-high for the game. Gabe Staloch added a hit, an RBI, and a run, while Carsten Ingvalson doubled, drove in a run, and scored twice. The lineup was relentless: Lukas DenHerder worked two walks and scored two runs, Jaxon Meier doubled and scored two, and Kelvin McCarthy went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Eliot Gimbel’s patience at the plate paid off with three walks.
For the Bucs, who fall to 4-3, it was a tough afternoon against a Blooming Prairie squad that looks poised for a strong season. With Boyd leading the charge, the Blossoms are proving they have the pitching depth and offensive firepower to compete with anyone.
