In a game defined more by defensive miscues than offensive fireworks, the Rochester Warriors fell 19-7 to the North Thurston Rams in a five-inning non-league contest on Friday. The final score tells a story of missed opportunities, as a staggering seven Rochester errors led to 12 unearned runs, ultimately dooming the Warriors' chances.
Despite the lopsided result, Rochester's offense showed promising signs of life, plating seven runs—their highest output since an early-season victory. The rally was sparked in the third inning, with Josie Nygard delivering a key two-run single. Nygard finished the day 2-for-3, while Charlie Culp reached base twice and scored two runs.
For the victorious Rams, the offense was a relentless machine, scoring in every inning and putting up at least four runs in four of the five frames. The team showcased a balanced attack: Paige Guyer went 3-for-5 with two doubles, Syriahs Trolson was a perfect 3-for-3 and also struck out four from the circle, and Lucia Green drove in a team-high four runs.
The win underscored the confidence flowing through the North Thurston squad. "The girls have found the consistency and confidence that we knew they had, and they showed it," said head coach Sam Harding, who dubbed the week a 'Challenge Week' for his team. "I couldn't be more proud of them all from the top to the bottom of the lineup."
Rochester (1-9) will look to tighten up their defense and carry their offensive momentum back into 1A Evergreen League play when they face Hoquiam on Tuesday.
