"Cabo Verdeans love to represent and celebrate. I think it's a beautiful thing," Ambrizeth Lima said at Cape Verdean Heritage Night at Gillette.

On a vibrant Wednesday evening at Gillette Stadium, the energy was electric as Boston Legacy FC hosted its first-ever Cape Verdean Heritage Night. For Ambrizeth Lima, it was a moment to wear her pride on her sleeve—and around her neck, and on her back. With a royal blue Cape Verdean flag draped around her shoulders, a Tubarões Azuis jersey honoring her heritage, and matching earrings shimmering under the stadium lights, she stood outside the gates, dancing softly beside her husband.

"Cabo Verdeans love to represent and celebrate," Lima said with a smile. "I think it's a beautiful thing."

Nearby, the Brockton-based dance troupe Effortless Steppas brought a different kind of rhythm to the scene. Led by the beats of Bryan "DJ Fresco" Ribeiro, the young dancers moved with explosive energy—faster, louder, more boisterous than the older couple swaying nearby. But this wasn't a clash of styles. It was a beautiful harmony, two generations expressing the same joyful pride in their own way.

The atmosphere was electric from the moment fans arrived. Cape Verdean flags waved throughout the concourse, and the sounds of traditional music mixed with modern beats created a festival-like vibe. State Sen. Liz Miranda even took the field to raise the Cape Verdean flag high, a powerful symbol of representation and unity.

Inside the stadium, the supporters' section roared with passion, while halftime brought a showcase of Cape Verdean talent that had fans on their feet. For the Cape Verdean community in Massachusetts—one of the largest in the United States—this night was more than just a soccer match. It was a celebration of identity, culture, and the love of the game.

Whether you were dancing slowly like Lima or stepping fast with the Effortless Steppas, one thing was clear: at Gillette Stadium that night, everyone had a reason to dance.
