The Boston Fleet might be trading in their usual home ice for a much bigger stage. Fresh off early playoff exits by the Bruins and Celtics, TD Garden has suddenly opened up prime spring dates—and the Fleet are ready to seize the opportunity.
Currently locked in an opening-round series against the Ottawa Charge, the Fleet could find themselves skating under the historic Garden lights if they punch their ticket to the Walter Cup Finals. Glen Thornborough, President of TD Garden, confirmed to Boston 25 that the venue is eager to host Boston's women's hockey squad for the championship round. "We were proud to host the Boston Fleet this year and are cheering them on in their postseason run—should they advance, we would be ready for the opportunity to welcome them back to TD Garden for the Walter Cup Finals," Thornborough said.
The Fleet have already tasted the big-league atmosphere once this season, drawing a sellout crowd for a 1-0 loss to Montreal on April 11. That electric night proved the city's hunger for women's hockey, and a potential Finals return could ignite even more passion. While an exact start date for the Walter Cup Finals hasn't been set, the series is expected to tip off in mid-May.
For fans, this is more than just a venue upgrade—it's a chance to witness history as Boston's newest championship contenders make a run. Whether you're cheering from the stands or repping Fleet gear at home, this postseason is shaping up to be one for the ages.
