Borussia Dortmund are on the verge of securing a major defensive talent for the future, with 19-year-old centre-back Joane Gadou reportedly in Germany to finalize his move from RB Salzburg. According to reliable sources including Sky Germany and Bild, the deal is expected to be completed for a base fee of €19 million, with an additional €4.5 million in performance-related bonuses.

The France U19 international is set to sign a long-term contract running until 2031, stepping into the squad vacancy created by veteran defender Niklas Süle, who recently announced his retirement from football at the end of the current season. This move signals Dortmund's continued commitment to investing in young, promising talent—a strategy that has long been a hallmark of the club's identity.

Gadou confirmed his imminent departure from Salzburg in an emotional social media post, reflecting on his time with the Austrian club. He wrote, "I leave with strong memories, moments I will never forget, and above all, amazing people I had the chance to meet. Thank you to the coaches, the staff, my teammates, and everyone at the club who played a part in my journey here."

The 6'4" defender originally joined Salzburg from Paris Saint-Germain in 2024 for a reported €10 million fee, making 58 appearances for the Austrian side across all competitions. His physical presence, composure on the ball, and defensive instincts have drawn comparisons to some of Europe's top young centre-backs.

For Dortmund fans, this signing represents another exciting addition to a squad already brimming with young talent. As the club continues to rebuild after Süle's departure, Gadou's arrival provides both immediate depth and long-term potential—qualities that have made BVB a consistent destination for Europe's most promising stars.
