The race for one of German football's brightest young talents is heating up, and Borussia Dortmund are back in the conversation. According to Sport Bild, the Black and Yellows have re-entered the chase to sign Hertha Berlin's midfield prodigy, Kennet Eichhorn, with newly appointed sporting director Nils Book personally sitting down with the player at the beginning of April.
Dortmund aren't alone in their pursuit, though. Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen are also circling, all eyeing Eichhorn's reported €12 million release clause—a very manageable fee for clubs of this caliber. But the competition doesn't stop there. Europe's elite, including Real Madrid, Manchester United, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Arsenal, have all been linked with the 16-year-old defensive midfielder, whose stock is rising fast.
Eichhorn made his 2. Bundesliga debut in August 2025 at just 16 years and 14 days old, handed the opportunity by coach Stefan Leitl. Since then, he's racked up 15 appearances for Hertha, logging 999 minutes of action and picking up seven yellow cards along the way—a sign of his gritty, no-nonsense style in the middle of the park. Currently valued at €20 million on Transfermarkt, the youngster is clearly seen as one to watch.
For Dortmund, known for developing top-tier talent, landing Eichhorn would be a statement of intent as they look to build for the future. Whether they can fend off interest from both domestic and international heavyweights remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the battle for this rising star is just getting started.
