The San Diego Padres finally broke their losing streak in dramatic fashion, rallying past the Chicago White Sox 4-3 on Sunday to snap a four-game skid and end Chicago's five-game winning streak. It was a much-needed win for a Padres team that had been searching for momentum.

The game's pivotal moment came in the eighth inning. Ramón Laureano led off with a walk, quickly stole second, and advanced to third on a single by Jackson Merrill. After Merrill swiped second, Xander Bogaerts delivered a clutch go-ahead single, giving San Diego a 4-3 lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Earlier, the Padres had built a lead thanks to some impressive power. Miguel Andujar and Manny Machado each launched solo home runs, and Bogaerts also scored from third on a passed ball in the fourth inning. That gave San Diego a 3-1 advantage at the time.

But the White Sox fought back. Derek Hill crushed a two-run homer in the seventh to tie the game at 3-3, setting the stage for the late-inning drama. Chicago had taken an early lead in the third on a leadoff home run by Drew Romo.

On the mound, Griffin Canning made a strong debut for the Padres, allowing just one run and striking out seven over five innings. Jason Adam (1-0) pitched a scoreless eighth to earn the win, and Mason Miller was electric in the ninth, striking out the side for his 11th save of the season.

White Sox starter Anthony Kay worked five innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits with five strikeouts. Tyler Davis (0-1) took the loss after allowing one earned run in just over an inning of work.

Looking ahead, the White Sox will open a three-game home series against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday, with RHP Davis Martin (4-1, 1.95 ERA) set to face RHP José Soriano (5-1, 0.84 ERA). The Padres, meanwhile, head to San Francisco for a three-game set, with RHP Randy Vásquez (3-0, 2.94 ERA) taking the mound in the opener.
