This is a bit of a disappointment for the Blue Jays.

The Toronto Blue Jays made a tough roster decision this weekend as they welcomed back infielder/outfielder Addison Barger from the injured list. While Barger's return brings a boost to the lineup, it created a logjam on the bench—and the move that followed has left many fans scratching their heads.

On Saturday, the Blue Jays announced that outfielder Yohendrick Pinango has been optioned to Triple-A to make room for Barger. Pinango has been a bright spark since his recent call-up, posting an impressive .423 batting average with four RBIs in just 10 games and 26 at-bats. His .906 OPS made a strong case for keeping the 24-year-old rookie in the big leagues.

But the real surprise is who stayed. Davis Schneider, who has struggled mightily this season with a .127 average and a .550 OPS over 55 at-bats, remains on the roster. Schneider had an option remaining, making him a logical candidate for a demotion to work on his swing in the minors. Instead, it's the hot-hitting Pinango who gets sent down.

There may be a method to the madness. With Barger back in the fold, consistent playing time could become scarce for a young player like Pinango. Sending him to Triple-A ensures he gets regular at-bats rather than riding the bench in Toronto. Still, for a team looking to spark its offense, watching a player with a .423 average head to the minors is a bitter pill to swallow.

For Blue Jays fans, this move feels like a missed opportunity to keep a productive bat in the lineup—and a reminder that roster decisions in a crowded clubhouse aren't always about who's hottest at the plate.
