In the fast-paced world of college football recruiting, the race for top talent is always heating up—and Florida State is making a strong push for one of the nation's most promising young running backs. Brayden Tyson, a four-star prospect from the class of 2027, has announced he will commit to a school on May 15, with the Seminoles firmly in the mix as one of his top four finalists.
Tyson, who stands at 6-foot-1 and weighs 215 pounds, boasts an impressive frame and a skill set that has earned him around 40 scholarship offers. After careful consideration, he has narrowed his list to four programs: Florida State, South Carolina, Purdue, and Rutgers. The Seminoles have been a constant presence in his recruitment since extending an offer in January 2024, and the relationship has only deepened over time.
Since that initial offer, Tyson has made multiple trips to Tallahassee, including four unofficial visits in 2025 alone—spanning March, June, October, and November. He's kept the momentum going in 2026, attending a Junior Day event in January and returning for more unofficial visits in March and April. That kind of consistent face time speaks volumes about the bond he's built with the Seminoles' coaching staff.
"It is about the coaches at Florida State," Tyson told Rivals. "They've built a real connection with me and my mom. How the staff and the backs work together has always stood out there."
On the field, Tyson backed up the hype with a stellar junior season at Brookwood High School in Georgia. He rushed for 1,292 yards and 16 touchdowns, while also proving his versatility as a pass catcher with 201 yards and a touchdown on 13 receptions. According to Rivals' industry rankings, he is the No. 301 player nationally, the No. 23 running back in the country, and the No. 32 recruit in the talent-rich state of Georgia.
Florida State's recruiting trail in Georgia doesn't stop with Tyson. The Seminoles are also a top-five finalist for three-star safety Jeremiah Proctor from Gainesville High School, showing their commitment to building a pipeline from the Peach State.
As May 15 approaches, all eyes will be on Tyson's decision. For Florida State fans, the frequent visits and strong family connections suggest the Seminoles could be in pole position to land this blue-chip back. Whether he ends up in garnet and gold or not, one thing is clear: Brayden Tyson is a name to watch in the 2027 class.
