Blake Snell is trading his Dodgers blue for the dark side—at least for one night.

The two-time Cy Young winner is set to make his final rehab start Saturday for the Ontario Tower Buzzers, but don't expect a hero's welcome. In a clever nod to Star Wars Night at Rancho Cucamonga Quakes' LoanMart Field on May 9, the Quakes' social media team has transformed Snell into Darth Vader himself.

The promotional image, shared on Instagram, features Snell's face superimposed onto Vader's iconic helmet and armor. "Join us as the dark side takes the mound," the caption reads, alongside a classic "Come to the dark side" invite. It's a fitting choice for a pitcher known for his intimidating presence on the mound, but the comparison runs deeper than just villain vibes.

Here's where it gets interesting: The Quakes are an Angels affiliate, while the Tower Buzzers are part of the Dodgers organization. In the SoCal baseball hierarchy, the Angels are often seen as the scrappy underdogs, while the Dodgers—with their deep pockets and perennial contender status—play the role of the evil Empire. So yes, Snell as Vader makes perfect sense in this rivalry context.

But if Snell really wants to lean into the role, he'll save his best material for the mound. Imagine him fanning a Quakes batter and dropping the iconic line: "I am your father." It would be the perfect blend of baseball bravado and pop culture gold.

Beyond the fun and games, Saturday's start carries real weight. According to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register, this is likely Snell's last rehab appearance before rejoining the big league club. His return will create a roster crunch, especially in the starting rotation. Tyler Glasnow's recent injury may buy the Dodgers some time, but ultimately, someone's got to make room.

The leading candidates? Roki Sasaki and Emmet Sheehan. Both have shown flashes of brilliance, but with Snell's track record—and that Cy Young pedigree—the Dodgers will find a way to get him back on the bump. The question is: which young arm gets bumped to make it happen?

For now, though, all eyes are on Saturday night in Rancho Cucamonga. Will Snell embrace the dark side? Will he channel his inner Vader? One thing's for sure: it's going to be must-see baseball, even if it's just a rehab start.
