After seven seasons with the Tangerines, Blackpool have bid farewell to former captain James Husband. The 32-year-old defender, who first arrived at Bloomfield Road on loan from Norwich City in July 2019, leaves with an impressive 209 league appearances to his name.
Husband's final chapter at the club was marked by both adversity and resilience. He was stripped of the captaincy by manager Ian Evatt following a red card in a heavy 4-0 home defeat to Plymouth in February. However, showing true professional grit, the left-back fought his way back into the starting XI for the final eight matches of the season.
As Blackpool look ahead to the next campaign, they're focused on retaining key talent. The League One side are in contract talks with goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell, 29, and striker Ashley Fletcher, 30, aiming to secure their services for the future.
In a positive sign of squad stability, the club have already triggered contract extensions for six players: Olly Casey, Ryan Finnigan, CJ Hamilton, Kylian Kouassi, Andy Lyons, and Albie Morgan. This core group will be vital as Blackpool build on their strong finish—winning their final four league games to secure a 13th-place finish in League One.
