Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is still in his first month as a father but already his daughter has changed his outlook on the NFL.
Allen’s wife, actress Hailee Steinfeld, announced the birth of the couple’s first child on April 2 in her Beau Society newsletter.
“Our baby girl has arrived. We’re feeling incredibly grateful and blessed and savouring these early moments. Thank you so much for the love and well wishes,” Steinfeld wrote.

On Monday, April 20, Allen made his first public comments on becoming a father. During a Bills pre-draft news conference, the 2024 NFL MVP said fatherhood has changed his perspective on the reason he strives for success.
“I am very excited,” Allen said, per the Bills’ website. “I do think this is going to be the best version of myself in all aspects in my professional career and my personal life.”
He continued, “That ‘want to win’ will never change. The ‘why I want to do it’ has. So why I want to do it and to show my family, to show my daughter how hard you need to work in order to accomplish something so great. And as long as I play this game, that’s going to be my mindset.”
Allen is recovering from offseason foot surgery. He said Monday he has emerged from rehab and has no restrictions during the team’s OTAs.
“It feels really good right now. I don’t feel like I have any limitations,” he said.
Allen completed 69.3 percent of his passes for 3,668 yards, 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions last season. Additionally, he rushed for 579 yards and 14 more scores. In 2025, Allen became the NFL’s all-time leader in rushing touchdowns by a quarterback. He currently has 79 career rushing TDs.
The Bills finished 12-5 in the regular season and advanced to the AFC divisional playoffs before falling to the Denver Broncos, 33-30, in an overtime thriller.
