The Benjamin School has cemented its legacy as a powerhouse in Florida high school track and field, with the girls team capturing a second consecutive Class 1A state title and the boys finishing as runner-up at the FHSAA state meet.

Competing at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, the Benjamin girls team amassed 62 points to finish nine points ahead of runner-up Northside Christian. The victory extends the school's remarkable run of state championships to five consecutive years, following the boys team's three-peat from 2022-2024 and last year's inaugural girls title.

The championship came down to the wire, with Benjamin entering the final event—the 4x400-meter relay—holding just a two-point lead over Northside Christian. The Bucs' experienced squad delivered under pressure, finishing second in the relay while their rivals placed eighth, securing the title in dramatic fashion.

Senior sprinter Akari Marshall was the standout performer for Benjamin, winning the 200-meter dash and placing second in both the 100-meter and the 4x400-meter relay. Fellow senior Sofia Balistreri, recognized as The Post's Girls Track Runner of the Year, contributed a runner-up finish in the 800-meter and anchored the crucial relay leg. Junior Kamori Reddick also made her mark in the field events, taking second in triple jump and sixth in long jump.

Among other local athletes, Pahokee junior Jamaria Richardson impressed with a win in the 400-meter, a third-place finish in long jump, and a sixth-place showing in the 200-meter.

The Benjamin boys team also delivered a strong performance, finishing as Class 1A state runner-up just 12 points behind champion Holy Trinity. Senior Julian Luiz closed out his decorated high school career with an individual win in the 400-meter hurdles and anchored the Bucs' victorious 4x400-meter relay team. Sophomore Mark also contributed to the team's impressive showing, highlighting the depth and bright future of Benjamin's track program.
