The Cincinnati Bengals made it clear this offseason: defense was the priority. And they've delivered—through free agency, the NFL Draft, and a blockbuster trade that brought star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence from the New York Giants in exchange for the 10th overall pick. But it looks like the Bengals might not be done raiding the Giants' defensive line just yet.
According to Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox, Cincinnati is now being linked to another Giants defender: edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux. Knox projects a trade value of a conditional 2027 fourth-round pick, noting that "it certainly feels like Thibodeaux's time with the New York Giants is nearing its end." He lists the Atlanta Falcons and Bengals as potential suitors.
Thibodeaux, a former first-round pick in 2022, has been a productive force off the edge. Over his 53-game NFL career, he's racked up 23.5 sacks, 152 tackles, 31 tackles for loss, and 55 quarterback hits. While he played just 10 games last season, a crowded edge rusher and outside linebacker room in New York could make him more available than ever.
For the Bengals, this move would be more than just a smart acquisition—it would be a fun upgrade. Cincinnati's defensive line has seen inconsistent production from some of its current options, and adding a proven pass rusher like Thibodeaux could provide the spark they need. At the cost of a conditional fourth-round pick, it's a low-risk, high-reward opportunity to bolster the pass rush.
The Bengals may not be going all-in for 2026, but they need to capitalize on Joe Burrow's prime years. Adding a talent like Thibodeaux for a mid-round pick would be a savvy move—and one that could make their defense significantly more dangerous.
